1. Competitive Swimming: 

 

  • Styles/Strokes:
  • Freestyle (Front Crawl): Fastest stroke, alternating arm movements with a flutter kick. 
  • Backstroke: Swum on the back with alternating arm rotations and a flutter kick. 
  • Breaststroke: Symmetrical arm and leg movements with a frog-like kick. 
  • Butterfly: Powerful simultaneous arm movements with a dolphin kick. 
  • Individual Medley (IM): Combination of all four strokes in a specific order. 

 

  • Distances: 
  • Short Course (25m pool): Ranges from 50m to 1500m (varies by stroke).
