Golf is a precision club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit a small, hard ball into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. The game is played on a vast outdoor course consisting of either 9 or 18 holes, each with a teeing ground, fairway, rough, hazards (such as bunkers or water), and a putting green with a flagstick and hole.

Key Elements of Golf:

1. Objective – Complete each hole by hitting the ball from the tee into the hole with the fewest possible strokes.

2. Scoring – Players count each stroke taken, and the player with the lowest total strokes at the end of the round wins.

3. Clubs – Different clubs (drivers, irons, wedges, putters) are used depending on distance and terrain.

4. Course Layout – Varies in length and difficulty, with par (expected strokes per hole) ranging from 3 to 5.

5. Rules & Etiquette – Includes penalties for lost balls, out-of-bounds shots, and proper course care.

6. Formats – Played individually (stroke play, match play) or in teams (scramble, fourball).

Golf is known for its mental and physical challenges, requiring strategy, skill, and consistency. It is played recreationally and professionally, with major tournaments like The Masters, The Open Championship, the U.S. Open, and the PGA Championship.
